JUST NOW: FG declares WASSCE, NECO, NABTEB dates


The Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Muhammad Buhari, on Monday July 6, 2020, declared dates for 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination(WASSCE), NECOand NABTEB exams.

This was released through the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, at a press briefing held in Abuja by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19.

The Minister, in his statement declared that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination will hold from August 4 to September 5, 2020. He further stated that NECO and NABTEB exams will be conducted immediately after WASSCE.

Nwajiuba urged parents to take note of this development as it is just a month from now, he explained that the Presidential Task Force had made numerous consultations with the examination body before recieving approval of the said dates earlier today.

Speaking further the Education Minister pointed out that the PTF had earlier announced the reopening of schools for revision classes.

He however emphasized that States willing to participate in the examination should make school facilities available for their candidates revision.

As an advice to unprepared States, the Minister asked them to get prepared, as the Presidential Task Force will be meeting with the Nigerian Union of Teachers to jusxtapose the dates on Tuesday.

NECO registration is still ongoing according to the Minister, who added that now is the right time to rwgister, for those who are willing to participate in the National exam.
