Former Man Utd and Barcelona star appointed as manager of a Spanish club

- The 38-year-old will resume duties as manager of Horta FC

- Valdes is expected to resume duties at the 5,000-capacity home stadium next season

Ex-Barcelona goalie Victor Valdes has been appointed as the manager of Spanish fourth-tier club Horta based in the autonomous community of Catalonia.

Club president Paco Carmona has announced that the 38-year-old will resume duties next season at the 5,000-capacity home stadium.

The club announced the agreement with the shot stopper on their official Twitter handle with a picture of the former Manchester United no. 1 with a message: “Welcome Victor.

“We hope you have a lot of success and triumphs as the head of our club.”
Valdes who had 20 caps for the Spanish national football team is regarded as one of Barcelona’s greatest goalkeepers. He earlier spent over a season at Manchester United in 2015 as backup for David de Gea.

He was placed on the transfer list after a fall-out with then-manager Louis van Gaal.

Valdes was shown the exit door at Barcelona after reportedly having a furious row with Patrick Kluivert who was the Director of Youth Football at the Nou Camp.

Meanwhile, Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati was asked to choose his top four players of all time but many were surprised to see the 17-year-old snub teammate Lionel Messi from his list, 90 min reports.

Fati who ended up including 3 Barcelona legends in his list, had no space for Messi as he instead preferred to go with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

He broke into the Barcelona setup this season and has scored four goals already and despite his young age, the player has been integrated into Barcelona first team.
