Crossroads for Ansu Fati

Ansu Fati is one of the few untouchable players at Barcelona.
The 17-year-old isn't on the lengthy transfer
list and he won't be sent out on loan next season either.
Barcelona want to keep him in Quique Setien's squad
and control his progression as a player.
The problem for the teenager is how that
quickly that progression will be, given the amount of competition in attack.
Barcelona are currently waiting to see what will happen with the Segunda B
playoffs, which Barcelona B are set to be involved
in.
The Catalan side are hoping Ansu Fati can help the B team achieve promotion to
LaLiga Smartbank, which would earn the club around 10 million euros.
Ansu Fati could be forced to dip down into the B team having seen his
status in the first team drop in recent months.
The forward has played just 103 minutes
in Barcelona's last five games in LaLiga Santander.
Over the course of this season, the youngster
has scored five goals in 26 games but is likely to see his playing time reduced
next season.
Attacking options
Ansu Fati will have to compete with the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Martin Braithwaite
and Ousmane Dembele for a place in the team next season.
On top of them, there are also the possible
arrivals of Lautaro Martinez and Neymar, who would push Ansu Fati further down the pecking order.
If the B team earn promotion to LaLiga
Smartbank, it could be a chance for the Spaniard to gain experience at a high
level without having to play in the first team.
However, Ansu Fati has shown
this season that he's not just another academy player, that he can contribute
significantly at first team level.
